YouLikeHits Privacy Policy
YouLikeHits.com and its owner, PorcelainSky LLC, are committed to safeguarding your privacy online. Please read the following policy to understand how your information will be treated as you make use of our web site. This policy may change from time to time so please check back periodically.
Who Is Responsible for Your Information
YouLikeHits.com is operated by PorcelainSky LLC, a limited liability company registered in Tennessee, United States. PorcelainSky LLC is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at webmaster@youlikehits.com.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. A username, an email address, and a password when you register. The links, profiles, channels, pages, and website addresses you choose to promote. Anything you send us in a support message, a report about another member's content, or a review.
Information we collect automatically. Your IP address, browser and device type (from the user-agent your browser sends), the dates and times you sign in and use the site, and the randomly generated browser identifier described in the Cookies section. We record which sections you use and what you earn and spend Points on, because the service does not work otherwise.
Information about payments. If you buy Points, the payment itself is handled by PayPal. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a record of what was bought. We never receive or store your card number, bank details, or wallet credentials.
We do not collect special category information (such as health, race, religion, or political views), we do not ask for government identity documents, and we do not buy personal information from data brokers.
Why We Use It, and Our Legal Basis
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
To provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract) — creating and running your account, showing you content to earn Points on, crediting and spending Points, promoting what you submit, and answering your support messages.
To keep the service fair and secure (our legitimate interests) — detecting people running multiple accounts, detecting automation and other abuse of the Points system, acting on reports about unsafe content, preventing fraud and chargebacks, and protecting the site and its members. We have considered your rights here, which is why the browser identifier is randomly generated rather than derived from your device, and why we do not use it for advertising or track you across other sites.
To send you optional messages (consent, which you can withdraw at any time) — reminders and news, as described in "Email We Send You". Withdrawing consent does not affect your account.
To meet our legal obligations — keeping records of purchases for tax and accounting, responding to lawful requests, and recording your acceptance of our Terms.
Cookies
Our site uses a small number of cookies, described below.
1. Essential cookies keep you signed in and keep your session working, so you don't have to enter your details on every page. You must have them enabled to use most of the site. They are
PHPSESSID, which identifies your session while you are on the site, and ylhuser, ylhsec and ylhtok, which let you stay signed in for up to 30 days. None of them contains your password. ylhtok holds a randomly generated session token that identifies your session only; it cannot be used to work out your password, and it stops working the moment you change it or sign out.2. A security cookie helps us detect people running multiple accounts to abuse the Points system. When you are signed in we store a randomly generated identifier (
ylhdev) that lets us recognise the same browser across accounts. It contains no personal information and is not built from your device's characteristics — it is simply a number we generated, and it is stored for two years. We use it only to protect the fairness of the Points economy, which is part of providing the service you signed up for, so it is treated as strictly necessary and is not used for advertising, profiling or tracking you across other websites.3. A two-factor authentication cookie. If you turn on two-factor authentication and choose to trust a device, we set a cookie (
tf2fa_trust) so we don't ask you for a verification code every time you sign in on that device. It holds a randomly generated token — not your password or any code — that maps to a record of that trusted device (its time, IP address and browser). It lasts up to 30 days and is cleared when you sign out. It is a strictly necessary security cookie for a feature you switched on, and is never used for advertising or tracking.4. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site so that we can improve it. These run on our public pages only — we do not run analytics on the pages you see once you are signed in.
We also set a short-lived cookie (
ylhref), lasting one hour, to credit the member who referred you if you arrived through a referral link.5. hCaptcha sets its own cookies on the sign-up and login pages to tell people apart from automated scripts. It is a security measure, it runs only on those two pages, and it is not used for advertising or to track you elsewhere.
You may be able to configure your browser to accept or reject all or some cookies, or to notify you when a cookie is set — each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Note that blocking essential or security cookies will stop parts of the site from working. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. The specific cookies we use are described above.
Analytics
We do not run advertising or retargeting on YouLikeHits.com, and we do not share your personal information with advertising networks. We do use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site so that we can improve it. Google Analytics collects standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior on our behalf, and may set its own cookies; this information is processed in a way that does not directly identify anyone. To learn how Google uses this information, see Google's Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Email We Send You
We use your email address to operate your account — for example to confirm a password reset, to notify you of a change to these policies, or to reply to a support request. These messages are part of the service and are sent for as long as your account is open.
We also send optional messages, such as a reminder when your promotions have stopped running, or occasional news about features. You can turn these off at any time in "Account Options", or by using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any such email. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and does not affect your account or your Points. We do not sell or rent your email address, and we do not send email on behalf of other companies.
External Links
This site contains links to other sites. YouLikeHits.com is not responsible for the privacy policies on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read their privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on YouLikeHits.com. Please be aware that these sites may have age limits and do not state so.
Public Areas
Please be aware that whenever you voluntary post information to public areas, that information can be accessed by the public and can be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications.
Security
User accounts are secured by user-created passwords. We take precautions to ensure that account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect user information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to user information to staff who need to access to perform their job functions. You can also add two-factor authentication to your account for extra protection — using an authenticator app and/or one-time codes emailed to you — and we email you whenever a two-factor method is turned on or off, so you would know if someone else changed it. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of user account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of user information at any time.
Children's Privacy
YouLikeHits is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use this site, as set out in our Terms and Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information and close the account. If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at webmaster@youlikehits.com and we will remove it.
Correcting, Updating, or Removing Information
YouLikeHits.com users may modify or remove any of their personal information based on available options at any time by logging into their account and accessing the appropriate sections in "Account Options".
When an account is deleted, for any reason including you deleting it yourself, we remove your profile and the content you submitted from public view straight away. Some information is kept after that: records we need to keep the Points economy honest (so that a closed account cannot simply be re-created to evade a ban), records of purchases and payments for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and anything we are required to keep by law or need in order to defend a legal claim. We keep this for no longer than those purposes need, and we do not use retained information to market to you.
Sharing of Information and Disclosure
YouLikeHits.com does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people without your permission except under the following conditions:
We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of YouLikeHits.com's Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
We also use a small number of companies to run the service. They may only process your information on our instructions and for the purposes below, and may not use it for their own purposes:
• SendGrid (Twilio) — sending email such as password resets and notifications.
• Cloudflare — delivering the site and protecting it from attack.
• PayPal — processing payments when you buy Points. PayPal acts as a controller of your payment information under its own privacy policy.
• hCaptcha — distinguishing people from automated sign-ups.
• ConsentCaptain — recording your cookie preferences.
• Google Analytics — understanding how our public pages are used, as described above.
• Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have never done so.
Where Your Information Is Stored
YouLikeHits is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, this means your information is transferred outside your country. Where we transfer information in this way we rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's and the UK's standard contractual clauses with the providers listed above, or another lawful transfer mechanism. You can ask us for more detail about these safeguards at webmaster@youlikehits.com.
Your Privacy Rights
Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete your account and the information associated with it. Much of this you can do yourself at any time in "Account Options". For anything else, email webmaster@youlikehits.com from the address on your account and tell us what you want to do.
We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm that you are the account holder before we act, which protects you as much as us. Using these rights is free, and we will never restrict your account, remove your Points, or treat you differently because you exercised them.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, to ask us to restrict processing while a dispute is resolved, to receive the information you gave us in a portable machine-readable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) — though we would prefer the chance to put it right first.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, the right to obtain a copy of it, the right to correct it, and the right to have it deleted. You also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not sell or share personal information and we do not collect sensitive personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still ask us to confirm this. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Decisions Made Automatically
Some protections on YouLikeHits run without a person reviewing them first. Content that enough members report is withdrawn from circulation automatically, and our systems flag accounts that appear to be operated by the same person or to be using automation. This is how we keep the site safe and the Points economy fair at a scale we could not review by hand.
If a decision like this affects your account, you can ask a person to look at it. Email webmaster@youlikehits.com and a member of our staff will review it, explain the reason, and put it right if we got it wrong. We do not close accounts permanently on an automated basis alone.
If Something Goes Wrong
If a security incident affects your personal information and is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authorities without undue delay, and we will explain what happened, what we are doing about it, and what you can do to protect yourself.
